The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced that the Ministry carried out USOAP-CMA training from 19~25th this month at Incheon Airport Aviation Academy for 31 aviation officials from 26 countries in Asia-pacific, Africa, Middle East and South America.

The training program was designed to provide practical assistance for developing countries who experience difficulties in implementing ICAO’s global standards.

Over the course of the training, instructors gave lectures about how to use aviation IT systems such as SMIS (Standards Management and Implementation System) and SOMS (Safety Oversight Management System) which were independently developed by Korea.

The training program was jointly provided by MOLIT and ICAO and taught how to develop an efficient aviation safety oversight system.

An official for the ministry said that the training will bring about favorable influence to the expansion of Korea’s IT technologies and contribute to building human network with the countries and enhance the national image of Korea in the global community.

He hopefully added that the training course demonstrates Korea’s strengthened status in implementing global aviation standards and contributes to securing supports from developing countries during the next election for ICAO Council in 2019.
